"Jost had a good day today, so far," Bednar said. "Hopefully he can join the team for a contact practice tomorrow. He was in a non-contact practice today. Everything seems to have gone well. We'll see how the day goes, and hopefully he can join the team for contact practice and be a possibility for us on the road."
Saturday's outing at the Minnesota Wild, a 3-2 loss for the Avalanche, was the first game that the St. Albert, Alberta, native has missed this season.
While Jost is making progress from his head injury, teammate J.T. Compher didn't skate.
"He didn't have such a great day," Bednar said of Compher, who is also out with a head injury. "So he won't be an option for us on the road."
Forward Sven Andrighetto joined Compher on the club's did-not-practice list as well and has been placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury. Bednar said Andrighetto is considered week-to-week and won't play in Canada.
Down two forwards, the Avalanche called up Sheldon Dries and A.J. Greer Tuesday afternoon from the American Hockey League's Colorado Eagles.
Dries has played in four games with the Avs this year and another five with the Eagles. Greer has yet to play in Denver this campaign, but he does have 22 outings of NHL experience and leads AHL Colorado in scoring with eight points (two goals and six assists).
Both forwards are expected to fill key roles on the Avalanche squad, and Bednar is expecting a little offense out of them as well.
"I would say situational basis and how they've been playing down there," Bednar said of what he's looking for in call-ups from the Eagles. "Try and reward the guys that have been playing well. The production side of it is certainly something we're looking for as well. We need more production here."
Both goaltenders will see action on the two-game trip as Semyon Varlamov will play at Calgary while Philipp Grubauer will start in Vancouver.
