"I think we're all just trying to get not only like get chemistry in our lines, but keep your game back," Domi said. "I'm sure the lines will change quite a bit throughout the year, so you get used to playing with everyone and a lot of good players here."
One of the main focuses that Domi described was gaining a shooting mentality and becoming more proactive and ready to react in rebound opportunities.
Although the team is currently sitting 1-3-0 in the preseason, head coach Luke Richardson mentioned that some of the strong points that have worked for the offense has been on special teams, especially on the power play.
"I thought we've actually done a pretty decent job," Richardson said. "We haven't scored but we've looked pretty organized on the breakouts and endzone and had opportunities, but we haven't pulled the trigger to get it in."
Throughout the team's four preseason games, the team has been outshot 123-87. In the team's 3-0 loss to Minnesota, emphasis on the importance of adding more pressure and communicating on open scoring opportunities.
One of the trends that Tyler Johnson noticed that carried over from last season was over passing. One of the new mentalities that they want to perfect is being able to put the puck on net rather than passing to their linemate
"We get into a pass first mentality, and I don't know if that's exactly what we want to do," Johnson said. "We want to be shooting first, getting pucks to the net and using our speed to break teams down."
With the mix up of lines and other test during the preseason, Domi believes this will make the team more prepared when they face bigger challenges throughout the regular season.
After team bonding moments and going through multiple practices, he hopes that the team chemistry can carry off the ice and into game moments to create success.
"We're always going to go through adversity throughout the year and you're going face some challenges and some hurdles," Domi said. "So, why not run into it earlier before the real thing starts."
