The Blackhawks closed out their 2020-21 season on Monday night with an overtime loss to the Dallas Stars, 5-4.
The team's leading goal scorer Alex DeBrincat and leading rookie goal scorer Pius Suter each scored in the finale, as did Dylan Strome and hometown kid Vinnie Hinostroza. Collin Delia made a season-high 45 saves in the defeat.

1st - 0:53 - Alex DeBrincat (Pius Suter)

Chicago's leading goal scorer added to his season total in the opening minute of the game. Pius Suter broke up a Miro Heiskanen clearing pass at the Stars blue line and Alex DeBrincat pounced on the loose puck in the neutral zone and broke in the other way. He pulled the puck to the backhand for a 1-0 lead just 53 seconds in.

1st - 1:22 - Pius Suter (Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome)

The roles were reversed 29 seconds later as Alex DeBrincat found Pius Suter inside the circle off a cycle. The rookie buried his 14th of the season beating Jake Oettinger on the glove side for a 2-0 advantage.

1st - 15:30 - Joe Pavelski (John Klingberg, Joel Hanley)

The visitors got on the board late in the opening frame as John Klingberg kept a deflected shot in along the boards in the offensive zone and quickly found Joe Pavelski on the weak-side post for a tap-in tally.

2nd - 16:28 - Dylan Strome (Vinnie Hinostroza, Dominik Kubalik)

A scoreless second period was ended on a 2-on-0 chance late in the frame. Off a Stars chance, Dominik Kubalik beat the lone defenseman back for Dallas with a pass, springing Vinnie Hinostroza and Dylan Strome in all alone. The duo passed back and forth before Strome finished off the play with his ninth of the season for a 3-1 lead.

2nd - 19:58 - Miro Heiskanen (John Klingberg, Jamie Benn) -- PP

The Stars pulled back within a goal with two ticks left to play in the middle frame as Jamie Benn won a late offensive zone draw back to John Klingberg at the point. Klingberg sent a pass across to his blueline partner and Miro Heiskanen found twine on his shot to make it a 3-2 game.

3rd - 8:18 - Vinnie Hinostroza (David Kampf, Mike Hardman)

Hometown kid Vinnie Hinostroza made it a 4-2 game in the third period, converting a partial breakaway by pulling a puck to his backhand and beating Jake Oettinger through the five-hole for a two-goal advantage.

3rd - 10:24 - Joel Kiviranta (Denis Gurianov, Miro Heiskanen)

Dallas once again pulled within one as Joel Kiviranta converted a shovel chance off a rush, beating Collin Delia on the blocker side to make it a 4-3 affair.

3rd - 12:18 - Jason Dickinson (Jason Robertson)

The Stars tied the game 4-4 just 1:28 later as Jason Robertson slid a pass from behind the goal line into the weak-side slot for Jason Dickinson, where the centerman put a wrister up high for the equalizer after the visitors had trailed since the opening minute.

OT - 4:30 - Jason Robertson (Jamie Benn, John Klingberg)

Sixty minutes were not enough in the finale as the two teams headded to overtime. Dallas found the game-winner with 29.6 seconds left on the clock in the extra frame as Jason Robertson cleaned up a rebound in front for the difference on the night, 5-4.
