THREE THINGS: Get to know Alexander Nylander

The Blackhawks bolstered their depth at forward with the addition of Alexander Nylander, acquiring the 21-year-old
from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for defenseman Henri Jokiharju
. Nylander's contract carries an AAV of $863,333 and is signed through the 2020-21 season.
Here's what you need to know about Nylander:

HOCKEY FAMILY

Alexander's father, Michael, played for the Blackhawks from 1999-2002. In 239 career games with the Blackhawks, Michael Nylander had 63 goals and 117 assists. He played 15 years in the NHL, skating in 920 regular-season games and recorded 209 goals and 470 assists while also playing for the Whalers, Flames, Bruins, Lightning, Rangers and Capitals.
Alexander Nylander has five siblings, including William, who just completed his fourth season with the Maple Leafs. Coincidentally, both William (2014) and Alexander ('16) were No. 8 overall selections in the NHL Draft.

WORLDWIDE ALEX

Nylander was born in Calgary while his father played for the Flames, but represents Sweden in international play, including helping the Swedes capture the silver medal at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship. In 21 career U20 World Junior Championship games, Nylander has 10 goals and 18 assists - fourth in scoring history for Team Sweden.

FIRST STRIKE

Nylander scored his first career NHL goal for the Sabres while playing in his second game of the 2017-18 season - and sixth of his career - on April 6, 2018 against the Lightning.
The goal came when Nylander tipped in a Brendan Guhle shot early in the first period at Amalie Arena in Tampa.
