Winter Classic jersey is tribute to inaugural season

ST. LOUIS - Original. Vintage. Old-school.
Call them what you want, but there's one definitive word that accurately describes the St. Louis Blues jersey for the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, and that's "perfect."
"It's great. I think all of us like the old-school look," said Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo. "This is the look that started the Blues and we get to carry it on for the Winter Classic. It's a great mix, a great blend of color and history."

The Blues unveiled their jersey for the Winter Classic on Wednesday at 10 a.m. prior to the game against the Chicago Blackhawks at Scottrade Center. The long-time rivals will meet again on Jan. 2, 2017 at Busch Stadium for the NHL's premier outdoor event.
"We are excited to unveil our jerseys for the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic," said Blues chairman Tom Stillman. "In celebration of our 50th anniversary, we are proud to pay tribute to our original uniforms and the franchise pioneers who first wore them in 1967."

The Blues' Winter Classic uniform is a re-creation of the club's inaugural look from the 1967-68 season. The gear features historically-accurate fonts and team striping, a ribbed crewneck collar, the vintage blue color and the original Blue Note crest from the first season, making this an authentic design to create a true outdoor game original.
"It's not just me who is excited to wear this for the Winter Classic. It's the whole team, the community and our families," Pietrangelo said. "The Winter Classic has become a pretty cool event for our organization, and a lot of time and effort has gone into it. We've all grown up playing in backyard rinks, and to be able to do it for real - while wearing this sweater - is going to be pretty special."
Fans who have not pre-ordered a Winter Classic jersey can purchase one now at the True Blues Authentic Team Store at Scottrade Center. Jerseys sold at the True Blues Team Store feature the authentic Winter Classic patch.
