CHICAGO - The Blackhawks handed the Bruins their 11th regulation loss of the season on Tuesday night, as the Black & Gold fell, 6-3, at United Center. The B's have lost their last three of four games and have recently lacked the energy the club has been used to throughout the year.
"It always comes back to that process," said coach Jim Montgomery. "We might bend at times, but we don't break and we've been breaking."

How it Happened:

  • After falling behind, 1-0, after the first, Hampus Linholm, who returned to the lineup after missing Sunday's game, notched a goal early in the second period giving him his ninth of the year to tie the game at 1 a piece. "I thought that he was on his toes," said Montgomery, "I think he was anticipating really well as far as when we were transitioning to offense and I thought he broke pucks out really well."
  • Two minutes later, the Blackhawks took the lead, 2-1, only to be tied again three minutes after that by Trent Frederic, earning him his 14th goal of the season which is a new career high.
  • Entering the third period tied at 2, Pavel Zacha gave the Bruins their first lead of the game and earned his 17th goal of the season. The lead did not last more than one minute, however, as Blackhawks winger Taylor Raddysh tied it up at 3. Raddysh would then go on to score two more goals, giving him his first career hat trick.
  • Tyler Bertuzzi had Bruins fans at the edge of their seat, as it appreared he had tied the game, 4-4, with just over 5 minutes to go in the third, but the goal was shown to have not crossed the goal line.
  • Linus Ullmark made 23 saves in his first loss since Jan. 29, snapping a career-high eight-game winning streak.

Thoughts from the Room

"It's our starts," said
Charlie Coyle
"Our starts are kind of killing us. It got covered up there in that first Detroit game on Saturday because we ended up winning, so maybe you don't think about it as much but that next game, it's the same thing. Bad start and we're behind the eight-ball...we pride ourselves on being a team that can come back but you can't be doing that every night."
Coyle also mentioned they were given a day off to rest and had wished they would have shown more energy from the jump. "It's a shame because there's no excuse for that," he said. "We had the day off on Monday, we should be coming in ready to go and have that great start."
As for what the Captain thinks of the B's lack of production the past few games, Patrice Bergeron said that learning from it is a good place to start. "We know that it's not good enough and we need to go back to what was successful to us and what's been good to us all year," said Bergeron. "So, there's a lot of things that we can learn from these past couple games."
When it comes to specific things missing, Bergeron honed in on some focus and fundamentals. "I think right now we're disconnected," said Bergeron. "We're not playing the right way...we're cheating. I think this league is going to humble you if you do that."
