Bergeron Returns to Boston, Will Miss At Least Two Games

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Patrice Bergeron has returned to Boston and will miss at least the next two games as he deals with the re-emergence of a previous arm injury that is at risk of infection, per Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy. Boston's bench boss added that the Bruins' doctors will determine over the weekend if Bergeron is able to return for the B's matchup against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night.
Cassidy also clarified that the injury is not related to the head laceration that Bergeron suffered on Feb. 8 at TD Garden against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"Something happened in practice…nothing to do with his head. It's somewhere on his arm area," Cassidy said just prior to puck drop at Xcel Energy Center. "We're just trying to be cautious about it at the end of the day. We don't want anything to come of it."
Bergeron played 20:05 of ice time on Tuesday night in the B's 2-1 overtime win over Chicago, notching six shots on goal, including his 17th goal of the season to open the scoring at 4:43 of the third period.
"It's too bad, the timing for this particular setback for him," said Cassidy. "But I guess if there's gonna be a time to get a break for a guy his age, now is not a bad time to sort of get the legs rested up for the home stretch. We'll take it as a positive assuming it's nothing that will stretch out for very long."

Jack Studnicka was recalled from Providence on Wednesday but did not make it to Minnesota in time for Boston's contest against the Wild. As such, Anton Blidh entered the lineup as the fourth-line right wing alongside Nick Foligno and Curtis Lazar, who shifted to the middle.
Tomas Nosek, meanwhile, moved up to center the top line between Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk.
"He moved up earlier in the year, scored a great goal off the rush in Buffalo," Cassidy said of Nosek. "He has put up some numbers in Vegas when he had to move up. I think he'll be fine. It's not a long-term solution. Bergy will miss a few games.
"Friday [in Winnipeg], it might be Jack. He's just not here today on time because this kind of came up late. Nose will get the opportunity and I don't think it's bad to reward guys that have played well for the team and can handle it.
"Like I said, it's not a long-term solution. But hopefully it gets Nose excited to have a few more touches, make some different types of plays without changing his game completely."
