BOSTON - The Boston Bruins announced today, June 29, that the Bruins Academy Learn to Play presented by Pure Hockey, in partnership with the National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players Association, will begin its fifth season in October. This year, the program will expand to over 80 locations across New England, compared to the 50 locations last season.

The Bruins Academy Learn to Play program is an initiative designed to introduce the game of ice hockey by overcoming affordability barriers that limit involvement at the beginner level in an effort to increase participation in youth hockey and grow the game. The Bruins Academy Learn to Play program is open to children ages four to nine.
The program debuted in 2014 with just six locations and 300 participants and has grown each year since. To date, over 6,000 local youth players have participated in the Bruins Academy Learn to Play program. This year, $2,500,000 (retail value) worth of equipment will be distributed through this program.
Over 5,000 youth players will have the opportunity to participate at one of over 80 locations across New England. For a registration fee of $100, participants will receive a full set of equipment to keep valued at $500 retail, which includes skates, a personalized fitting by Pure Hockey, and four weeks of on-ice instruction led by USA Hockey certified coaches.
Equipment fittings will take place at the six stops of the 2018 Bruins Fan Fest Tour in August and at designated Pure Hockey locations in September. Following the fitting, the gear will be shipped and delivered to participants between August 23 and September 14.
Registration for the Bruins Academy Learn to Play program will open on Thursday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. Learn more about the Learn to Play program presented by Pure Hockey and sign up for the Bruins Academy Newsletter by visiting
