The John Carlton Memorial Trophies are given annually by the Boston Bruins to the outstanding male and female student athletes in Eastern Massachusetts high school hockey or junior hockey. They are given to the high school seniors "who combine exceptional hockey skills with academic excellence." The annual awards are named in honor of the late Bruins scout and administrator who passed away in December 1982 after a long and dedicated affiliation at all levels of the game.
Doyle, of Lynnfield, MA completed his high school career as Co-Captain of the Lawrence Academy boy's hockey team and was named to the All-Independent School League Team. Doyle played youth hockey for his home town of Lynnfield and the Valley Junior Warriors. Doyle was a member of the Minuteman Flames team that was ranked number one in the nation for three straight years while winning the prestigious Silver Sticks Hockey Tournament. As a freshman at Shattuck St. Mary's School in Faribault, MN, Doyle was a member of the U-14 team that won a National Championship in 2016. Following his freshman year at SSM, Doyle joined Lawrence Academy and went on to help the LA team win the Small School ISL Championship in 2018. Doyle also earned an invite to the 2018 USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game. Prior to the 2018-19 season, he was named a USA Today Pre-Season All American. Doyle is committed to playing collegiate hockey at Boston University. Next year, he plans to play in the USHL for the Dubuque Fighting Saints.
Farden, of Hingham, MA completed her high school hockey career with over 100 points and helped lead her team to three Independent School League titles and two New England Prep School Athletic Conference championships. She was recently named Dvision One Player of the Year in the NEPSAC and also Most Valuable Player of the ISL for the 2018-19 season. Farden was also honored as a First Team All-New England and First Team All-ISL defenseman for the third year in a row. Lily was a member of the Under 18 Team USA Women's Ice Hockey Team that won a gold medal at the World Championships in Dmitrov, Russia in 2018. For the past two years, she has been a USA Today Pre-Season All-American, an All-USA Girls Hockey Player of the Year Finalist and a member of the American Family Insurance All-USA Girls Hockey Team. She is a two-sport captain and three sport varsity athlete at Nobles in field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse. She has also excelled in the classroom earing Highest Academic Distinction at Nobles for four consecutive years. She will play college hockey at Harvard University next year.
