BOSTON - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeneyannounced today, March 29, that the team has assigned defenseman Paul Postma and recalled defenseman Tommy Cross from Providence on an emergency basis.
Cross has skated in 66 games with Providence this season, posting eight goals and 24 assists (4th, Team) for 32 points (T-4th, Team) with 79 penalty minutes (1st, Team) and a plus-25 rating (T-8th, AHL). The 6-foot-3, 205-pound blueliner has appeared in three career regular season games with Boston in 2015-16, tallying one assist, as well as producing one assist in one postseason game with Boston in 2016-17. Cross has served as captain of Providence for the past three seasons, and has compiled 31 goals and 99 assists for 130 points with 409 penalty minutes and a plus-60 rating in 357 career AHL games. The 28-year-old has also skated in 39 career AHL playoff games, recording four goals and 12 assists for 16 points with a plus-eight rating.
The Hartford, Connecticut native was originally selected by the Bruins in the second round (35th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
