Pastrnak Named Czech Republic Player of the Year

BOSTON - On Tuesday, a day before the NHL Awards in Las Vegas, David Pastrnak and two Bruins prospects made headlines by receiving honors of their own.

Pastrnak Named Czech Player of the Year

David Pastrnak earned universal praise for his 70-point effort during the 2016-17 campaign. He earned so much praise, in fact, that he took home hardware from his native country.
The 21-year-old forward was named the 2017 Zlata Hokejka Award recipient, awarded annually to the best hockey player hailing from the Czech Republic, narrowly beating out Flyers forward Jakub Voracek. Pastrnak is the youngest player to win the "Golden Hockey Stick."

The electric right-winger dazzled for Bruins fans on a nightly basis, finishing in a tie for 10th in the NHL with 34 goals. He also registered 0.93 points per game, tied for 14th in the NHL, along with 262 shots on goal, ranking 10th in the league.
Bruins center David Krejci, who compiled a career-high 23 goals and 31 assists last season, finished third in the voting.

Frederic, Lindgren Invited to USA Camp

Bruins prospects Ryan Lindgren and Trent Frederic were invited to join the U.S. national junior team at the 2017 World Junior Summer Showcase.
Lindgren, a standout defenseman drafted in the second round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, played 32 games this past season with the University of Minnesota. The 19-year-old freshman registered a goal, six assists, a plus-9 rating, and 65 penalty minutes from the back end.
Lindgren provided steady play at the 2017 World Junior Championships with Team USA, where he logged an assist and a plus-4 rating in seven games en route to a gold medal.
Frederic, a first-round (29th overall) selection in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, skated 30 games in his freshman campaign at the University of Wisconsin, amassing 15 goals, 18 assists, a plus-2 rating and 32 penalty minutes.
The 19-year-old forward made waves at the 2016 U-18 World Junior Championship with Team USA, where he tallied four goals, three assists and a plus-six rating in seven games en route to a bronze medal finish.
This year's World Junior Summer Showcase will be held at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, from July 29 to August 5.
The event, hosting players from the U.S., Canada, Finland, and Sweden, serves as an audition for those hopeful to make their country's roster for the 2018 World Junior Championship, taking place this year in Buffalo.
