BOSTON - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, November 2, that the team has placed forward David Backes on injured reserve and recalled forward Austin Czarnikfrom Providence on an emergency basis.
Czarnik, 24, leads Providence in scoring with four goals and six assists for 10 points in five games this season. The 5-foot-9, 167-pound forward has also skated in two games with Boston this season. In his first NHL season with Boston in 2016-17, Czarnik recorded five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 49 games.
