BOSTON - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeneyannounced today, March 30, that the team has signed forward Jordan Szwarz to a one-year contract extension through the 2018-19 season worth $650,000 at the NHL level and $350,000 at the AHL level.
Sweeney also announced that the team has assigned defenseman Tommy Cross and forward Jordan Szwarz to Providence.
Szwarz has three assists in 12 games with Boston in 2017-18. He has also recorded 19 goals (2nd, Team) and 25 assists (3rd, Team) for 44 points (3rd, Team) with a team-high plus-29 rating in 46 games with Providence this season. In his first season with Providence in 2016-17, Szwarz established career highs in all offensive categories with 22 goals and 32 assists for 54 points in 65 games. He added six goals and five assists for 11 points in 17 Calder Cup Playoff games last season.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Burlington, Ontario native has appeared in 47 career NHL games, totaling four goals and three assists for seven points with 21 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 358 career AHL games, totaling 88 goals and 122 assists for 210 points.
The 26-year-old forward was originally selected by the Coyotes in the fourth round (97th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Cross has skated in 66 games with Providence this season, posting eight goals and 24 assists (4th, Team) for 32 points (T-4th, Team) with 79 penalty minutes (1st, Team) and a plus-25 rating (T-8th, AHL). The 6-foot-3, 205-pound blueliner has appeared in three career regular season games with Boston in 2015-16, tallying one assist, as well as producing one assist in one postseason game with Boston in 2016-17. Cross has served as captain of Providence for the past three seasons, and has compiled 31 goals and 99 assists for 130 points with 409 penalty minutes and a plus-60 rating in 357 career AHL games. The 28-year-old has also skated in 39 career AHL playoff games, recording four goals and 12 assists for 16 points with a plus-eight rating.
The Hartford, Connecticut native was originally selected by the Bruins in the second round (35th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
