BOSTON - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, August 16, that the team has signed forward Matt Filipe to a two-year entry-level contract.
Filipe, 22, spent the last four seasons at Northeastern University, establishing career highs a senior in 2019-20 with nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward appeared in 136 career NCAA games with the Huskies, totaling 31 goals and 44 assists for 75 points with 109 penalty minutes and a plus-25 rating.
Prior to attending Northeastern, the Lynnfield, Massachusetts native played three seasons at Malden Catholic High School, serving as the team's captain in 2014-15 when he posted 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points in 21 games.
Filipe was originally selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the third round (67th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
