BOSTON -Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, May 5, that the team has signed forward Matthew Poitras to a three-year entry-level contract beginning with the 2023-24 season with an annual NHL cap hit of $870,000.

Poitras, 19, appeared in 63 games with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League in 2022-23, recording 16 goals and 79 assists for 95 points. He ranked second in the league in assists and was tied for fifth in the league in scoring.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward appeared in 68 games with Guelph in his first OHL season in 2021-22, totaling 21 goals and 29 assists for 50 points.

The Brooklin, Ontario native was originally selected by Boston in the second round (54th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
