The 19-year-old spent the past two seasons playing in the Russian Junior Hockey League (MHL), the Supreme Hockey League (VHL) and the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). In the MHL over the past two seasons, Shen scored 12 goals and recorded 15 assists for 27 points in 34 games with plus-11 rating. During the 2018-19 season in the VHL, the second highest league in Russia, Shen recorded two assists in 13 games. The 6-foot-1, 183-pound forward also appeared in 49 KHL games over the past two seasons, scoring two goals and recording one assist for three points.
Shen has also represented Team Russia on the international stage, scoring three goals and recording one assist for four points in seven games with a plus-four rating en route to winning a bronze medal with Team Russia at the 2019 World Junior Championship.
The Ufa, Russia native was originally selected by the Bruins in the seventh round (212th overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
