BOSTON -- Leon Draisaitl scored his second goal 2:18 into overtime to give the Edmonton Oilers a 2-1 win against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Tuesday.

Draisaitl sent a one-timer off Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo’s stick to win it. Connor McDavid cycled the zone to create the game-winning play.

“Nice play by [McDavid] to me,” Draisaitl said. “Obviously, [I] got very lucky with that shot, but I’ll take it.”

Draisaitl tied it 1-1 with 1:20 left in the third period when his net-front shot went up off Linus Ullmark then in off of the goalie’s back.

“The feelings afterwards feels more like a playoff game because it felt like we had it,” Ullmark said. “Slipped out of our hands in that final minute. I mean, I got to take ownership to it as well. There’s no reason for me to freeze that puck [on the previous play when I] could keep it rolling and maybe turn it around and score an empty-netter.”

McDavid had two assists to extend his point streak to 12 games for Edmonton (38-20-2), which won its fifth straight. McDavid has 28 points (two goals, 26 assists) on his streak.

Evan Bouchard also had two assists, and Stuart Skinner made 25 saves.

“I thought we had a lot of opportunities,” Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said. “We played a good hockey team, and their goaltender made some great saves. Usually after a game, even when you lose, you’re disappointed but you’re thinking, ‘oh, the process was good,’ and that’s kind of what I was thinking. And then we say we weren’t done yet.”

Pavel Zacha scored, and Ullmark made 24 saves for Boston (36-13-15), which has lost five of its past seven (2-1-4).

“It wasn’t meant to be today,” Zacha said. “I think that’s something that, you know, we just have to keep pushing instead of kind of backing out a little bit the last five, 10 minutes of the third, and try to even score a goal and play more offensive.”

Zacha gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead at 4:26 of the third period, one-timing Danton Heinen’s cross-ice pass for his third goal in two games.

“I think [Zacha’s] looking to shoot more,” Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said. “It’s funny, he had a little bit of an injury there [in Saturday’s 5-1 loss to the New York Islanders], and he comes back from the injury, and he’s simplified his game. He’s shooting more, he’s being more direct and he’s scoring.”

Edmonton forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ backcheck on Heinen caused him to send an empty-net shot wide at 18:56, which would have given Boston a 2-0 lead.

“The game’s over there [if that goes in], for sure,” Oilers forward Mattias Janmark said. “So that’s the kind of efforts we need, and I feel like everyone is bringing it.”

Bruins forward James van Riemsdyk played his 1,000th NHL game on Tuesday. He had two shots on goal in 11:41 of ice time.
