He will be joined by his teammate, goaltender Jesper Vikman. "Both Fabian and Jesper have played a big part in our team's success so far this season," Giants General Manager Barclay Parneta told VancouverGiants.com. "Both of them are excited and are fully deserving of the opportunity to represent Sweden at the World Juniors."
Lysell is having quite the season with Vancouver of the WHL, recording nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points so far. The Göteborg, Sweden native is no stranger to finding success within his roots as he played for Sweden in the 2020 Under-17 World Hockey Championship, where he recorded five goals and two assists for seven points. More recently, he earned himself a bronze medal at the 2021 Under-18 World Junior Championship.
Lysell, who notched an assist across two preseason games for Boston back in September, has been a fun player for Bruins fans to follow since his joining the organization over the summer.
"Fabian is a talented young player, and we look forward to working with Fabian throughout the development process," Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said after signing Lysell to an entry-level contract back in August.
Lysell is on a hot streak going into his game Wednesday night vs. the Kamloops Blazers, recording five goals and seven assists in his last five games. He will look to carry this momentum into the end of the month, with the 2022 World Juniors starting off on December 26th and Sweden set to take on Russia at 1:30 PM PT. The Gold Medal game is scheduled for January 5th.
