A shifty forward with impressive vision, Jellvik skated in 13 games with Djurgårdens IF's Under-20 team in Sweden's J20 Nationell League last season, recording 12 points with six goals and six assists. During the 2019-20 season, Jellvik spent time in Sweden's J18 Elit and J18 Allsvenskan leagues, recording 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists) in 21 games between the two leagues. He also skated in 15 games in the J20 SuperElit league that season, scoring two goals and adding two assists for four points in 15 games.
"I would describe my game as an offensive player with an edge in the offensive zone," said Jellvik. "My best ability, I would say, is my skill with the puck and my hockey sense in the offensive zone to find my teammates."
While the Swedish winger has yet to visit Boston, he has admired the city and the Bruins from afar, along with one particular B's forward.
"I like Patrice Bergeron a lot because I think he shows that he can play in the offensive zone and be one of the best guys there, but he also plays the defensive zone," said Jellvik. "I think that's a great guy to have as a model.
"I think it's a team with very much history and I like the way that Boston plays hockey and how they've built their organization. I just love the town of Boston as well with all the sports teams there."
The pick of Jellvik marked the third Swedish player selected by the Bruins through the club's first four picks in the 2021 NHL Draft. Boston also selected Swedish forward Fabian Lysell on Friday with the 21st overall pick, a player that Jellvik has faced off against multiple times in their home country.
"Fabian is a great player," said Jellvik. "His offensive skills are unbelievable. When he comes off the rush, against the defense, he's going to toe drag, put it between his legs, and put it in the top corner. He's a great guy and I've known him for many years."
Perhaps one day Bruins fans will enjoy watching a forward line with Lysell on one wing and Jellvik on the other.
