Dyck spent the 2021-22 season with the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL. "We had a really young group," Dyck said when asked about how the year went. "We went through a lot of adversity and just missed the playoffs by a game, so it's pretty disappointing that way but we had a great stride and organization and we're going to try to come back next year."
Bruins Associate Director of Amateur Scouting Ryan Nadeau said it could be a challenge to see Dyck play this past season with the Manitoba native spending most of the year as a backup. But the B's scouting staff was able to see him in Canada at the U18 tournament where Dyck appeared in three games.
"He was a backup this year so he was hard to see at times," said Nadeau. "Then he ended up playing at Canada at the U18 tournament so we got some good views there."
Nadeau added that Dyck was a goalie the Bruins have had their eyes on for a while now and see great potential for growth. "We just think there's an upside that our goaltending group, [goalie coach] Bob Essensa and [goaltending development coach] Mike Dunham, can really work with and hope to hone and work through," said Nadeau.
When asked who he enjoys watching, Dyck said Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andre Vasilevskiy was at the top of his list.
"He's such a great skater and he's obviously one of the best in the world, so I really try to play like him," said Dyck. "He has great hands and takes a lot of pucks right in the hand like that, so it's something I really watch, really try to follow."
