hall

BOSTON - The Bruins received more bad news on the injury front Sunday morning as coach Jim Montgomery revealed that winger Taylor Hall is considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Hall was hurt during Boston's preseason tilt against the Flyers on Saturday afternoon at TD Garden.
"It's a little more significant, the upper-body injury, than we expected [Saturday]," said Montgomery, whose club is already slated to be without Brad Marchand, Charlie McAvoy, and Matt Grzelcyk to begin the 2022-23 campaign.

With Hall absent from Sunday's practice at Warrior Ice Arena, Pavel Zacha slid down to skate with fellow Czech natives David Krejci and David Pastrnak on Boston's second line. Montgomery believes that having the three Czechs together could breed some natural chemistry and camaraderie.
"I am thinking about putting Pavel there," said Montgomery. "They come from the same school of thought with their upbringing. So, let's see what it looks like.
"It's the same for Russians, the same for Swedes. There's a school that they're brought up with, a style of play, that makes it a little simpler for them to understand each other. It's not a language thing.
"It's more of the school of the way [of] their upbringing and raised - the thought of hockey…the schools they have and the way they play is consistent."
With Zacha shifting down to Hall's spot, there is now an opening on the left wing alongside Patrice Bergeron and Jake DeBrusk. As such, Montgomery is considering Nick Foligno, Trent Frederic, and A.J. Greer - who got the first crack on Sunday - at filling the hole left by Marchand.
"It opens up room for a lot of people," said Montgomery. "And I guess the three people you think of right away would be Frederic, Foligno and Greer, but that's what the rest of camp is for. We're going to try things out.
"And obviously Bergy, is going to have a huge say in who that person is because I'm going to lean on him. And as far as chemistry - him and Zacha still is an option. It's just hopefully we'll figure it out in the next 10 days here."

Lysell Sidelined, Too

Rookie winger Fabian Lysell also left Saturday's exhibition matchup against the Flyers after being sandwiched against the boards by a reverse hit from Philadelphia's Rasmus Ristolainen. Lysell did not practice on Sunday and is considered day-to-day, though Montgomery did indicate that the 19-year-old is "probable" for a return to action on Wednesday against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
"We're not going to play him [Monday in New Jersey]," said Montgomery. "But we were hoping - and most likely probable - for Wednesday."
Following the hit on Lysell, Chris Wagner responded with a couple of heavy thuds of his own, a retort that Montgomery felt was "really important."
"There's a player understanding momentum in a game, getting it back," said Montgomery. "And I think you could tell the crowd got into it with that shift - and it's also letting the other team know you can't take runs at our players - no matter who the teammate is."
