BOSTON - After another extended break in the schedule, the Bruins will get back at it tonight when they welcome the Detroit Red Wings to TD Garden on Thursday night. Jeremy Swayman
will make the start between the pipes.
"A little bit tough to find a rhythm with all the time off," said Charlie McAvoy. "But I think we've done a good job of keeping the compete high in practice, using the time for making it beneficial, whether it's rest or working on individual stuff. I think we've been trying to find a way to make it productive."

Opposing View

The Red Wings, in the midst of a four-game road trip, got off to a 4-2-1 start but have dropped three straight (0-2-1), including a 3-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. Detroit is paced by Tyler Bertuzzi (six goals, three assists) and Lucas Raymond (four goals, five assists) who each have nine points on the season. Bertuzzi's six goals lead the Red Wings.
Detroit coach Jeff Blashshill said that he anticipates the club will be without captain Dylan Larkin (3-5-8 in eight games) on Thursday night. The Red Wings are also down winger Jakub Vrana who is expected to miss several months after shoulder surgery.
"They've got some young talent," said Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy. "They've got some guys out of their lineup…they've played us better, I know that - I guess you can't say the last two years, but the last year that we actually played them. I think they beat us more than we beat them. Clearly, they've figured out a formula and we've got to get back to being better against them no matter who's in the lineup."
Moritz Seider, the Red Wings' 21-year-old blue liner, was named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for October after tallying eight assists in nine games.

Cassidy talks on Thursday prior to tilt vs. DET

Wait, There's More

  • Cassidy said that Nick Foligno, who has missed the last five games with an upper-body injury, could skate with the team in a non-contact jersey on Friday but will not play on Saturday night in Toronto. "If that's the case, that's another step," said Cassidy, who added that Foligno has been skating on his own.
  • The matchup between the Bruins and Red Wings is the first between the clubs since Feb. 15, 2020, at TD Garden.
  • Connor Clifton is expected to play in his 100th career game tonight.
