Bussi, signed by the Bruins to a one-year, entry-level deal last March, has been having an outstanding rookie year in Providence, checking in with league-leading .934 save percentage, a 2.17 goals against average (fourth in the AHL), and 11 wins (sixth) in 16 appearances, including one shutout. Bussi credits his teammates and staff for the overall success of the team.
"It's an honor to be given this opportunity," said Bussi. "I try not to follow individual stats. My teammates, coaches, and all the staff are the reasons for our success...it will be a great experience going to Laval. I'm looking forward to enjoying the time with my family and Vinni and taking in an experience not many people have the opportunity to get."
The 24-year-old New York native plans on taking a few things with him that he's learned from both watching and working with Bruins goaltenders Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman.
"It's been awesome seeing the success both Linus and Sway are having," said Bussi. "It was a great opportunity spending some time with them at the development camp and learning from them."
Bussi will be joined by Lettieri, who will be returning to the All-Star game after competing back in 2020. Lettieri leads Providence with 28 points and 12 goals in 33 games.
"I'm very grateful for the coaches and people around the League who voted me in, it's an honor," said Lettieri, who was signed by the Bruins to a one-year, two-way contract last July.
This trip for Lettieri is more than just the game, as he looks forward to reuniting with family.
"I'm more grateful to be going this time around," said Lettieri. "I have family in Montreal and I haven't seen my Grandma in 4-5 years. It's more important than the game...it will be a great time to see her and my family."
Lettieri also enjoys the element of All-Star that allows guys around the league to connect. "It's fun to get to know the other guys around the league," he said. "It's fun seeing old friends and making some new ones."
As for going with his goaltender, Lettieri couldn't be happier. "So happy to be going with Brandon," said Lettieri. "He's been helping our team win some very important games...he's been a All-Star since the day he arrived in Providence."
