Pastrnak, Columbus forward Jakub Voracek, and Tampa Bay forward Ondrej Palat were named as the Czech Republic's three provisional players on Thursday morning.
Per the International Ice Hockey Federation, the three players will be included on the Olympic team provided they "are healthy and remain eligible to participate in the Olympic Games." The final team rosters will be announced in January.
"Really excited. It's one of the dreams growing up as a kid," Pastrnak said on Sept. 30 when asked about the possibility of being named to the Czech Olympic team. "Pretty much all you see back home with the time change was the national team [on television]…hopefully everything goes as planned and I'll have the opportunity to represent my country."
Pastrnak has represented his country numerous times throughout his career, most recently at the 2018 World Championships, during which he notched six points (four goals, two assists) in five games.
The Havirov, Czech Republic, native also played for the national team at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and the 2016 and 2017 World Championships, as well as in three World Junior Championships (2014, 2015, 2016).
