BOSTON - Jeremy Swayman is slated to make his first start of the season on Saturday night when the Bruins host the Arizona Coyotes in the club's home opener at TD Garden.
The 23-year-old, who will be starting Boston's first Causeway Street tilt for the second consecutive season, was beaming following Friday's practice when asked about the chance to once again man the pipes in front of the B's faithful.

"It's the best thing ever. I can't wait. It's been too long. I couldn't be more excited to open up here," said Swayman, who is entering his second full NHL campaign after posting a 23-14-3 record with a 2.41 goals against average and .911 save percentage last season.
"I'm super excited, first and foremost, to be back in this city. It's the best place to play ever…the experience I gained last year with travel, obviously working a full NHL season, knowing a little bit more of the ropes. I'm gonna build off that and definitely make some strides forward this year."

More news and notes from Friday's skate at TD Garden:
-- Jake DeBrusk did not practice Friday and will not play against the Coyotes. The winger suffered an upper-body injury in the season opener on in Washington, though his current prognosis seems more positive than it did on Wednesday night.
"He's not eligible to play [Saturday], but we think he's gonna be back a lot sooner than when it originally happened, so that's good news," said coach Jim Montgomery.
With DeBrusk sidelined, Craig Smith will shift up to play the right wing alongside Taylor Hall and Patrice Bergeron. A.J. Greer, meanwhile, will shift over to the right side to take Smith's spot next to Charlie Coyle, which will open up a place for Trent Frederic to make his season debut as the third-line left wing.
-- Anton Stralman, who was signed to a one-year contract on Wednesday, is likewise ineligible to play as the team continues to work through Visa issues.
-- Matt Grzelcyk was a full participant in practice once again on Friday and is considered "day-to-day," according to Montgomery.
"I think he's getting closer every day," said Montgomery. "It's just a timing issue and getting used to some practice reps so that he's used to the timing of his breakouts, joining the play, transition to offense, just things that while you're out your brain's not wired that way, it's getting that muscle memory back in his game.
"I'd be shocked if he didn't play by the end of next weekend."
