Eddie Shore Award

Every year since 1962, a Bruins player has been honored with the Eddie Shore Award at the conclusion of the season.

This annual team award honors the Bruins player who demonstrates exceptional hustle and determination throughout the season.

For the first 61 years, this award was presented by the Gallery Gods, an organized group of Season Ticket Holders originating from the second balcony of the original Boston Garden.

Since the Bruins Centennial Celebration in the 2023-24 season, Legacy Season Ticket Holders (35+ years tenure) joined the Gallery Gods in having the distinct honor of voting for this award every year.

Each Legacy STH receives their ballot in late March, and is then given one full week to submit their vote.

Every year, one randomly selected Legacy STH presents the Eddie Shore Award to the winning Bruins player on the ice before a game.

EDWARD W. SHORE

The league's first true superstar, Eddie Shore remains the only defenseman in NHL history to win four Hart Trophies as league MVP and he finished second in the balloting in another year ... He was an eight-time NHL All-Star, although he played for four seasons before AllStar teams were conceived in 1930-31 ... As tough as he was talented, he had 165 penalty minutes in just 44 games in 1927-28 and finished as high as 12th in the league's scoring race in 1932-33, which was unheard of for a defenseman at that time ... He won two Stanley Cups with the Bruins - in 1929 and 1939 - and was among the first group of inductees into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1945.
