USA 11 - Germany 1
The Americans scored five goals in the second period en route to a dominant win and a spot in the semi-final. In 16:08 on the ice, blueliner Lane Hutson recorded an assist, a plus-1 differential and three shots on goal.
Canada 4 - Slovakia 3 (OT)
A little over five minutes of overtime were necessary to determine that Canadians Joshua Roy and Owen Beck will move on in the tournament. The latter played his first game of the World Junior Championship after receiving an invitation to join the team yesterday to replace Colton Dach - Kirby's brother - who is injured and will not return to the event.
Roy had three shots on goal and a Time On Ice of 20:24, while Beck, listed as a 13th forward, only played two shifts, totaling 1:41 of play.
On the other end of the ice, assistant captain Filip Mesar set up the equalizer for Slovakia in the third period, forcing overtime. The forward protected the puck along the boards before sending a pass to teammate Libor Nemec, stationed in front of goaltender Thomas Milic.
Mesar posted a helper and two shots on goal in 19:37 of ice time.
