By the numbers: Martin St-Louis

MONTREAL -- The Canadiens announced anthree-year extension for head coach Martin St-Louis on Wednesday.Here's a closer look at the improvements the Habs' bench boss produced during his time as interim coach.

847 - Cole Caufield's goal-scoring rate (G/60) soared, increasing by 847% in the final half of the season.

24- One of the biggest reasons for Caufield's resurgence was his improved ice time, which increased by 24 percent at 5v5.
69 - Under St-Louis, the Canadiens saw a very nice increase in results, improving their points percentage by 69 percent.
1.61 - Both Caufield and Nick Suzuki enjoyed a significant uptick in production once they were placed on the same line by St-Louis. Coincidentally, or not, Caufield's goals per 60 rose to 1.61, whereas Suzuki's assists per 60 were also 1.61.
50.2 - The Canadiens' share of goals rose all the way from 38.2 percent to 50.2 percent under St-Louis, which represented a jump from last in the League to 15th.
53.1 - St-Louis' influence went well beyond the young players. Veteran Jeff Petry's underlying numbers immediately increased, most notably his expected goals-for percentage, from 45.9 percent to 53.1 percent.

1.92 - Petry's points per 60 also rose from 0.36 to 1.92.
2.9 - The Canadiens' started scoring many more goals under St-Louis' tutelage. They went from 1.9 goals per 60 (31st in the league) to 2.9 goals per 60 (11th in the league).
2.96 - Christian Dvorak saw the most considerable improvement in production. The forward was scoring 1.38 points per 60 prior to St-Louis' arrival. He earned 2.96 points per 60 under his new bench boss. Dvorak led all Canadiens forwards in points per 60 in the second half of the year.

95% - Almost every forward enjoyed an increase in production (points per 60).
2 - He only played 7 games, but young forward Jesse Ylonen finished the season as the second most productive player on the Canadiens, scoring 2.81 points per 60 minutes of 5v5 ice time.
78- Brendan Gallagher's name adorned the scoresheet 78 percent more often with St-Louis behind the bench.
1- Alexander Romanov was his most used defenceman, averaging 18:31 of ice time at 5v5, representing a 15 percent increase compared to his previous TOI.
