Edmundson: 'It doesn't get much better than this'

Following the on-ice session, forward Eric Staal, defenseman Joel Edmundson and interim head coach Dominique Ducharme spoke with reporters via Zoom.

Staal on the recipe for success in Game 7 scenarios:
The biggest thing is belief in what you do as a team and what your team is. In Game 7, everybody knows that anything can happen. For your group, you just want to be as consistent as possible with what you are. That's what we've done over this series. Our group has been what we are and done what we do. We prepare the same way, we act the same way, we do the same things, prepare for the game the same way and do the same things throughout the intermission regardless of what's happening on the ice. Those are all good things. That can't change tonight. We'll prepare like we normally do, we'll be ready to play when the puck drops and hopefully be feeling really good at the end of the night.

Staal on the impressive resiliency of the team:
This is a great group of guys. We've got no egos in this locker room. We've got guys that play for each other. Whatever you're asked to do, the role you're asked to play, you embrace it. That's what good teams do. That's what we've done so far. There's a ton of work ahead with tonight's game, but we'll approach it like we have every other night. We'll see where it goes and go from there.
Edmundson on staying positive with a pressure-packed contest on tap:
Habs-Leafs in a Game 7, it doesn't get much better than this. We're just happy to be back in Toronto right now. We know what we have to do to get the win. We've worked hard the past couple of games to put ourselves in this position. We're excited to be here and we want to finish it off.

Edmundson on managing stress ahead of a crucial matchup:
Just approach it like any other game, to be honest. When you overthink things, it kind of piles up and you don't show your best effort on the ice. You just have to stay loose, have a good time and enjoy the moment because that's when you play your best hockey.
Ducharme on being confident heading into Game 7:
We know we can win against the Maple Leafs. We need to get back to doing the things that we do well. We need to be dynamic and play well as a unit of five in every situation.

Ducharme on different players contributing during the previous two games to extend the series:
We need everybody to have success. We often see that in the playoffs. Teams that go far benefit from production up and down the lineup. We've talked about our depth. It's been one of our strengths over the last two games. Different players have registered their names on the scoresheet. That'll be important again in Game 7.
