MONTREAL - The stakes couldn't have been higher when Joshua Roy came through for Canada back in January.

With a World Junior Championship on the line, the Canadiens prospect served up a golden dish on a silver platter for Dylan Guenther who made no mistake to seal the deal for the red and white.

On May 31, Roy joined the Canadiens' official Twitch account to talk about the golden goal, his advice for young hockey players, his dream car and more in a live Q&A.

Here are some highlights from the show:

Joshua Roy on his favorite moment from the past two seasons:

[The World Juniors] this winter was the real experience. Last summer was still a ton of fun; it was still the World Juniors, after all, but it was during the summer and there was less attention on it. You didn't feel as if it was the World Juniors as much. But, the atmosphere in the arena and around the city in Halifax this winter was incredible. To win [the gold medal] in overtime was just unbelievable.

Roy on setting up the game-winning goal in the gold medal game of the 2023 World Juniors:

Honestly, I get goosebumps just rewatching it. For real, it was unbelievable. When it happened, when I saw the puck go in - I don't even know, it was like it was no longer me inside of my body. I remember I was trying to undo the strap [of my helmet] but I wasn't even able to. Honestly, it was incredible and the atmosphere there was crazy. We couldn't even hear ourselves talking on the ice. Everyone was yelling and it was just an unbelievable moment.

Roy on working on the defensive aspects of his game:

This year and last year, I did a lot of video work with my assistant coach on the defensive parts of the game. To see what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong is the first step. Then, you try to add what you've learned to your game. It's worked for me so far. I've taken a big step in the right direction. I definitely have to continue working on it, though. It always gets harder and harder to improve, so I still need to continue working.

Joshua Roy takes fan questions on Twitch

Roy on being around the Laval Rocket during the 2022 Calder Cup Playoff run:

It helped me a lot. I'd never had an experience like that. To see them play in the playoffs was something else. You realize exactly what it takes to be a pro and I think it really taught me a lot. Personally, I tried to bring that to Sherbrooke this year during the playoffs. To see what they did, to see how they carried themselves; they're examples to follow and it helped guide me.

Roy on advice for young hockey players:

Never give up. No matter the sport, you're never going to only experience the highs. There will always be moments where you face adversity, but keeping your head up and working even harder to get through the tough times will make you a winner.
