The Capitals annual Hockey Fights Cancer Game presented by Leidos took place Nov. 14 at Capital One Arena. During warmups, players wore lavender warmup jerseys that were auctioned off along with other items including autographed Hockey Fights Cancer pucks and hats. Thirty items in the auction sold for $1,000 or more. Top items in the fundraiser included jerseys autographed by Alex Ovechkin, Tom Wilson, Slapshot, the 2021-22 team, T.J. Oshie, John Carlson and Nicklas Backstrom; the framed, team puck set; and the signed Ovechkin wood carving.
During the Capitals Hockey Fights Cancer game, Leidos presented a $40,000 check to Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation in support of the Capitals Hockey Fights Cancer auction beneficiaries.
In addition, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation's 50/50 raffle proceeds on Nov. 14 benefitted the Hockey Fights Cancer charities. Fans were also able to support Hockey Fights Cancer by purchasing tickets through a special link through which a portion the sale was donated to Hockey Fights Cancer. In addition, fans were also able to shop lavender Capitals Hockey Fights Cancer apparel, including exclusive T-shirts, sweatshirts and hats, with a portion of proceeds benefitting the HFC beneficiaries.
