Capitals sign Alexander Suzdalev

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have signed forward Alexander Suzdalev to a three-year entry level contract, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today. Suzdalev will earn $775,000 in each of the first two seasons of the deal and $800,000 (NHL) in the third and $82,500 in the AHL.

The Capitals selected Suzdalev, 18, with the 70th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. The 6'2", 172-pound left wing led HV71 (Sweden-Jr.) in scoring and ranked 10th in Sweden's top junior league with 51 points (15g, 36a) in 45 games. Suzdalev added four points (3g, 1a) in five playoff games, which ranked tied for first on the team.
Suzdalev also appeared in five games with HV71 of HockeyAllsvenskan (Sweden-2), in three games with HV71's J18 Nationell club (2g-3a-5p) and in one game with the J18 Region club (1g-2a-3p).
In addition, Suzdalev won a gold medal with Team Sweden at the 2022 IIHF World U18 Championships, skating in six games.
Suzdalev was ranked sixth among European left wings and 26th among all European skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
