and via the NHL App. Fans were permitted to select as few as one player and a maximum of four players per ballot, without regard to position. The maximum number of ballots cast per day for each user was 10.
For the third straight year, the 2018 Honda NHL® All-Star Game will once again feature the 3-on-3 All-Star Tournament, showcasing the NHL's most talented star players from each division. The All-Star Tournament will feature three 20-minute games, with star players from each Division making up the four All-Star teams: Pacific, Central, Atlantic, and Metropolitan. Each team will be made up of 11 players from each Division: six forwards, three defensemen and two goaltenders.
The remaining players who will comprise the four All-Star rosters will be determined by the National Hockey League Hockey Operations Department and announced on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
The head coach of the team with the highest points percentage (points earned divided by total possible points) in each of the four divisions at the halfway point of the regular season will guide the respective All-Star rosters. The coaches will be announced when all four are determined.
The Lightning, who are celebrating their 25th season, and the city of Tampa will host the 2018 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend. The League's midseason showcase will take place at AMALIE Arena and will include the 2018 NHL All-Star Skills Competition™ on Saturday, Jan. 27 (7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, CBC, SN, TVAS) and the 2018 Honda NHL® All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 28 (3:30 p.m. ET, NBC, CBC, SN, TVAS).
