Av for a Day, presented by Rocky Mountain Children’s, recognizes inspirational youth in our community. This program, open to individuals ages 7 – 17, encourages youth to continually strive for excellence in their school or community by offering a unique experience. Preference is given to candidates ages 7 – 13. Candidates are chosen for their ability to inspire others, their efforts to demonstrate a positive attitude while facing hardships, remarkable commitment to improve their community, or extraordinary dedication to academics.
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to meet the Avalanche team and watch morning skate prior to attending a designated Avalanche game. Selected candidates will receive team merchandise, 4 tickets to an Avalanche game, dinner at the game, and recognition both in-game and online. Photos/video of each Av for a Day experience will be shared publicly on Avalanche channels (ex: social media, Altitude TV) as part of the program. In order to be considered, candidates will need to be available from approximately 10 am – 12 pm on a designated weekday to meet the team and attend morning skate, returning to Ball Arena for dinner and to attend the game from approximately 5 – 9:30 pm. Selected candidates must be accompanied by a guardian for all activities.
Selected candidates emulate the following:
- Positive attitude in the face of adversity (medical challenges or other)
- Dedication to being the best version of themselves
- Community involvement (i.e. tutoring, community service projects, volunteer work, supporting friends, or unique home situation such as caring for younger siblings or grandparents, etc.)
