America First Credit Union Game Changer

The Vegas Golden Knights Game Changer Program presented by America First Credit Union recognizes and rewards teachers in Clark County that are going above and beyond to in their classrooms. Outstanding teachers nominated will have the chance to receive a $1,000.00 grant to be used towards improving their classroom.

2023-24 Game Changer Teachers

Cassandra Arquette

An AP Calculus and Calculus III teacher at Clark High School is often regarded by her students as one of the best teachers they have ever had. Ms. Arquette’s impact in the classroom is very clear, her students are successfully taught a thoughtfully planned math curriculum in a positive, confidence-boosting environment. Ms. Arquette offers tutoring after school almost every day and incorporates creative projects that not only help the class learn but also make new memories. One of the students favorite learning tools are the calculus related songs Ms. Arquette plays to help them remember steps and rules in the processes. Ms. Arquette gives opportunities to students to learn from their mistakes by correcting and doing problems on the white board. When students make a mistake in front of the classroom, she always reminds them that it is ok a good to make mistakes and to learn from them. Each of her students walk away from the classroom with a greater understanding of math but most importantly more confidence in their abilities.

Karen Geiger

A teacher at Greenspun Middle School who teaches 6-8th grade students that are deaf and hard of hearing, but do not use sign language. Most of the time their academics have been impacted because of their hearing loss but because of Ms. Geiger, the students social, emotional, and academic growth improves because of her ability to connect and teach them at their individual level. Ms. Geiger spends so much of her own money to supplement her classroom. She provides relevant monitors and incentives to help each student meet their individual goals. She is generous beyond belief, she is like their mother at school, as well as teacher, advocate, and friend. The students are lucky to have her.

Danielle Zolotic

A first-grade teacher at Lucille S Rodgers Elementary has helped her students positively to be better students not only in the classroom but also at home. She has contributed to helping students who previously struggled with other teachers behaviorally become top students. Parents have reached out stating they have witnessed their child change for the better at home, going from doing no work to completing homework as soon as they get home. Mrs. Zolotic makes these kids happy, to the point where they are extremely sad when they leave her for the second grade. Mrs. Zolotic not only makes sure her students are learning properly, but also having fun and knowing that they have someone who is there for them and loves them.

Kevin Fiddler

A Video Production and Film Studies teacher at Silverado High School has made a positive impact on his students by caring about their education, but also their emotional and mental well-being. He embraces his students and cheers them on in their academics as well as in their life goals. He makes himself available for whenever a student needs him, and he is someone who is truly there whenever you may need him. He truly exemplifies what a life changing teacher would be. He makes curriculum interesting and teaches in a way that your skills will be used later in life. Nominated by former student Isabella McNamee.

Alexandra Tuason

A special needs educator at Charles and Phyllis Frias Elementary School. Mrs. Tuason works tirelessly to educate the school community and her families about children affected by autism. Her consistent strategies have made her students communication, social skills, and academics improve. She created and implemented a best buddies program as well as had her students pair with peers to participate in the Special Olympic program. She impacts and enriches lives daily. Mrs. Tuason goes beyond the classroom continually when she mentors others on teaching ways to integrate students.

Alexandra Forshee

A sports medicine teacher at Southeast Career Technical Academy in Las Vegas. She takes pride in setting her students up for success in the classroom and life. Alexandra is a huge Golden Knights fan and day 1 season ticket holder. She was nominated by her Student Danica who stated that Mrs. Forshee has made her classroom a safe place for learning and has been involved in helping Danica inside and outside the classroom to ensure I have the tools to succeed.

Eden Capsuoto

Mrs. Capsouto teaches preschool children with autism at Twitchell Elementary School with a total of 13 students with developmental and behavioral autism disorder. She dedicates her life to making sure her students are included in every way possible in their critical stages of learning and development. Her passion to help these children succeed is unmatched, paying for countless supplies out of pocket to keep her program active and successful. Mrs. Capsouto has continued her dedication to these children regardless of hardship. During the pandemic she virtually developed and implemented virtual programs to keep her kids with special needs active and learning. Not only do her students love her, but the families of these children are also positively impacted for life because of her contributions and guidance.
