The Devils are still without a few of their star players. Mackenzie Blackwood and Travis Zajac are in the COVID protocol, and Nico Hischier continues to be on the mend from his offseason injury.
Luckily for the Devils, Jesper Bratt returned to the team and played his first game of the season Thursday night. But Hischier remains one of their top forwards absent from the lineup.
Head Coach Lindy Ruff provided a brief update on the center after Friday's skate.
"His progress has been good and we'll get him back as soon as he feels well enough to play, but he's had no setbacks and is progressing," said Ruff.
While that does not clear up any questions as to his timeline for return, it is positive that there have been no setbacks. The team needs one of their rising young stars.
