The Devils make it three-for-three with a big win over the San Jose Sharks Saturday afternoon.
This win looked much different than the victory on Long Island, proving that the speed game isn't the only way this club will be able to pick up wins.
With a calmness in net from Mackenzie Blackwood, making his third consecutive start, the Devils chipped away at this game before Yegor Sharangovich broke through with a wonderfully executed goal for the 1-0 lead in the second period. Dawson Mercer's power-play goal ended up as the game-winner, the first Devils power-play goal since the opening game of the season.
New Jersey defeated San Jose 2-1 at Prudential Center.
"Every game is not going to be the same way, I feel like in the Islanders we came out with a lot of energy and was playing a really, really fast game," Bratt said post-game. "Today we were playing against a little bit of a different team, we got to find a way to win those games too. Today we came really together as a group and I feel that we showed strong leadership to find a way to play the right way. We were holding each other accountable and we came out with a win."
New Jersey improves to 3-2-0 since starting the season with two consecutive losses.
Blackwood has backstopped the Devils to three consecutive victories, his first three-game win streak since a stretch between Dec. 29, 2021 and Jan. 2, 2022.
