BUFFALO, NY -The Sabres came out blazing, scoring six unanswered goals, three in the first period and three in the second period. Starting Devils goaltender Gilles Senn saved 13 of 19 shots on goal in the first and second period. Goaltender Akira Schmid came in to relieve Senn for the third period. Schmid saved all 11 shots on net for the remainder of the game.
