Devils center Jack Hughes is "day-to-day," according to head coach Lindy Ruff, after suffering an injury in the first period of New Jersey's 4-2 victory against Seattle Tuesday night at Prudential Center.
"He'll be evaluated (Wednesday) and we'll see where he's at," Ruff said.
Hughes was hurt after being checked into the corner boards by Seattle's Jeremy Lauzon. Hughes' skates elevated and he landed hard on his shoulder against the ice. Hughes skated hunched over to the bench, went immediately to the locker room and did not return in the game.
"I watched the hit. I don't like the way he fell," Ruff said. "The hit itself, I couldn't find a lot to criticize. But when he went down, I've had my share of shoulder injuries, I know that when you stick your arm out something bad could happen sometimes."
