On Thursday, March 24, staff volunteers from the New Jersey Devils, Prudential Financial, Mars Wrigley, Verizon and PSE&G worked with Operation Gratitude to assemble 1,000 care packages for troops currently deployed in Eastern Europe. Each package includes an assortment of sweet and salty snacks, personal care products, and handmade items such as paracord bracelets, handwritten letters, and knitted crafts carefully made by volunteers nationwide. These packages will be individually addressed to service members deployed to Europe in support of the Ukraine crisis.
Throughout the night, the Devils and Prudential will pay tribute to the armed forces through a variety of activations, including:
"Military Appreciation Night is an important reminder for us to give back to veterans, active military personnel, as well as the friends and families who support this heroic community all year long," said Rob Barea, vice president of Culture, Diversity & Engagement at Prudential Financial. "As an Army veteran, I understand the significance of these gestures of gratitude and how much they mean to us veterans and those currently serving. Tonight's celebrations are just one of the many ways that Prudential gives back and supports military families."
"Prudential is a phenomenal organization who partners with Operation Gratitude to ensure those who've raised their hands to serve know the American people care," said James Johnson, CEO and President of Operation Gratitude. "The generosity of volunteers and partners like Prudential have made it possible for Operation Gratitude to have sent over 3.5 million Care Packages in the last 19 years and have put us on track to send over 1.2 million Care Packages per year in the near future."
