PRE-GAME STORY

PITTSBURGH, PA - For the second time this season, the Devils landed in Pittsburgh on Saturday evening but for the first time, they arrived at PPG Paints Arena and will play a game against the Penguins this afternoon.
This marks the third of a three-game series. The Devils walked away on Thursday with a win but lost on Saturday afternoon, largely due to the team's inability to convert on the power play according to Devils head coach Lindy Ruff.
"When you're expecting a lot of pressure and know where the pressure is coming from, you've got to make the play that's there," Ruff stated about the team's demeanor on the man advantage. "When I said 'going rogue' (after the game on Saturday) I meant we tried other plays. We knew where the play was coming from, we knew where the pressure was coming from but we decided to opt for a different play or different pass. We put it into pressure and it was down the ice again."
The Devils had four power plays on Saturday, including three in the third period with the game in reach but could not score.
"If you look at the game as a whole, the chances ended up being pretty close. The difference was our special teams. We could have made a difference. It gave us negative momentum and energy. We worked hard to draw the penalties but at the same time, they gave momentum off their kills."
Pittsburgh had two power plays and scored on one, that being the ultimate game-winning goal.

BRATT'S IMPROVED PLAY
After starting the season with heavy minutes, Jesper Bratt saw his ice time decline all the way to a season-low 11:01 on March 4 against the Rangers. But his place has gradually improved and since that game, he's picked up seven points in nine games.
"You can see that," Ruff said of his improved play. "He's on one of our power play units. He's playing with Hughes and Palmieri. In a schedule that's extremely busy, we look at him as being an important piece of our team, helping create offense."
Ruff had some good things to say about that line with Jack Hughes and Kyle Palmieri.
"There's a lot of things in Jesper's game I like. Where we have him is a good fit, right now," Ruff continued.
The Devils bench boss was asked where he's seen the most improvement in Bratt.
"Compete level," he said. "One thing I've talked about is the one-on-one compete, 50/50 compete. I think he's really improved that. In talking to him and showing him different clips during games, that's the one area of his game that's gotten better."

Devils Team Scope:
After going 2-0-1 over a three-game stretch, Saturday put an end to that.

Penguins Team Scope:
