The New Jersey Devils today announced that forward Tyce Thompson has signed a two-year contract. The breakdown is a two-way deal in 2022-23 worth $750,000 at the NHL level and $175,000 in the AHL, and a one-way deal in 2023-24 worth $775,000. Thompson was initially scheduled to go to arbitration on August 11. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.
Thompson, who turned 23 on July 12, skated in two games with New Jersey last season, missing much of the hockey season following shoulder surgery in November 2021. On April 1, he returned to game action with the Utica Comets (AHL) where he posted 15 points (6g-9a) in 16 games and added two points (1g-1a) in five Calder Cup Playoff contests.Drafted with New Jersey's sixth selection (fourth round), and 96th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft, Thompson joined the Devils out of Providence College (Hockey East) on March 23, 2021, and made his NHL debut on April 6, eventually playing in seven games (one assist) with the NHL club. Thompson also played in 11 games (2g-2a) for the club's AHL affiliate in Binghamton.
