Fabian Zetterlund had an impressive NHL debut on Thursday against the Panthers. In a game where almost everyone on the Devils club was a minus rating and the team lost 4-1, Zetterlund walked away +1 with three shots on goal, two hits and 9:33 of ice time.
"Skated well, got to the net. Was responsible away from the puck. I thought for his first game, he held his own," stated Devils head coach Lindy Ruff. "He'll only get better."
Zetterlund savored the opportunity to take the ice in an NHL uniform.
"It was unbelievable. A dream come true for me and I think my whole family, too. It was special for me," Zetterlund stated.
As for his performance, he was happy with the way he played but hoped for a better overall result.
"I tried to play as hard as I could. I think I played well. A game is 60 minutes. You've got to play a full game to win a game. Florida came out and played better in the second. We didn't do that at all. We have to step up and play a full 60 minutes."
