"We know that the Flyers are more than a hockey team, we're a pillar of this community, and that's why we've taken a leading role in encouraging everyone to protect themselves and others by getting vaccinated," said Valerie Camillo, President of Business Operations for the Philadelphia Flyers. "Through our partnership with Penn Medicine, the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium, local health officials, and others, we've been able to make a real difference in the Philadelphia region, and we're very proud to have our full team and hockey operations staff vaccinated before the start of the season."
As vaccines finally became widely available in April, the Philadelphia Flyers launched the "Take Your Shot" campaign, making the organization the first professional sports team in Pennsylvania and the first NHL franchise with a comprehensive vaccine awareness and support campaign. Teamed up with Penn Medicine, the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium, and public health leaders, the Flyers supported vaccination sites throughout the Philadelphia region and even provided vaccinations at the team's final regular season home game in partnership with Penn Medicine.
