Hockey Fights Cancer

Hockey Fights Cancer is a league-wide initiative uniting the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. Each season, the Vegas Golden Knights host a Hockey Fights Cancer night in support of the initiative.

During the 2023 season, specialty lavender jerseys were signed and auctioned off during the game. We helped raise over $80,000 to benefit Cure 4 the Kids, American Cancer Society and Kay’s Power Play.

Black History Month

During the 2023-2024 season, the Vegas Golden Knights celebrated Black History Month through initiatives such as, community groups to games, highlighting local black leaders, and street hockey clinics with Keegan Kolesar, Joel Ward, Isiah Saville, and Fred Brathwaite. During Black History Month, the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation proudly attended the opening and ribbon cutting of Donna Street Community Center. The Vegas Golden Knights foundation is a proud sponsor of the Donna Street Community Center Podcast room, where the kids now have a space for creativity and an outlet to express themselves.

Hispanic Heritage

During the 2023-2024 season the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by hosting a ball hockey clinic with the new launch of “LosVGK” that celebrates and engages the team’s Spanish-speaking fanbase. The clinic was hosted at the Vegas Golden Knights ball hockey rink at the James Boys and Girls Club in North Las Vegas, with special guest, #33 goaltender Logan Thompson.

This past year the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation also supported the Las Vegas Academy’s Mariachi program and the Ballet Folklorico of Las Vegas.

First Responder Appreciation

This past season we recognized our first responders on three different nights throughout the month of January. We recognized our healthcare workers, firefighters, and law enforcement through the Vegas community with specialty signed jerseys.

The jerseys were auctioned off raising over $85,000 with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation and our First Responder efforts and initiatives in the community.

The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation also hosted a ball hockey clinic with LVMPD's Law Enforcement Empowerment and Athletic Program, for kids to stay on the right course and use athletics as a positive outlet.

America's VetDogs - Maverick

The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation has partnered with the national non-profit, America's VetDogs, to help co-raise Maverick, a yellow labrador retriever, to undergo basic training and socialization with Golden Knights players, staff, and fans.

Maverick will then be trained to become a service dog, free of charge, to a Veteran, active-duty service member, or a first responder in need.

Nevada Reading Week

From March 4th to March 8th, the Golden Knights and VGK Foundation celebrated Nevada Reading Week at several different elementary schools. Nevada Reading Week has been celebrated for more than 40 years. It was introduced in the community to promote literacy and a love of reading each year in the first week of March.

This year, the VGK Foundation visited nearly twenty different schools reading to over 300 classes and over 5,000 students with special guest readers including Deryk Engelland, Gary Lawless, Ashali Vise, Katie Marie, and Bojo.
