Pickard1

The stats are easy to look up.
Calvin Pickard is a goalie that the Golden Knights selected from the Colorado Avalanche in the Expansion Draft.
He was born in Moncton, New Brunswick and grew up in Winnipeg and catches with his left hand.
And he's 25-years-old.
These stats are easy to look up.
So we took the time to ask Pickard some "important" questions in his first-ever interview with VegasGoldenKnights.com.

Pickard2

VGK:Let's start with the important questions.
Pickard:Let's go.
VGK:Is a hot dog a sandwich?
Pickard: Is a hot dog a sandwich?
VGK: Yup.
Pickard: No.
VGK: Why not?
Pickard:I view sandwich as…this is a tough answer, actually.
VGK:That's why we asked it.
Pickard:I don't even think an open-faced sandwich can really be called a sandwich. I need two pieces of bread, too, for it to be a sandwich.
VGK:That's what we said, too.
Pickard: Exactly.
VGK:Glad we could start off with the important question.
Pickard:Me, too (laughs)
VGK:Another important question: Do you keep up with the Kardashians?
Pickard:Definitely not. No! Not a chance.
VGK:Not even a little bit?
Pickard: I hear what other people talk about when I'm around. But I am not in the loop.
VGK:Do you watch MTV?
Pickard:No.
VGK:How about Game of Thrones?
Pickard:No. I've tried to get into Game of Thrones, but it's not really my thing, the medieval stuff. Not really my thing. I've had a tough time trying to get into it.
VGK:Medieval stuff, but you're on a team called the Golden Knights now?
Pickard: That's a good point. I'm going to have to change.

VGK:This is a good show you're missing. Have you at least been watching The Bachelorette?
Pickard: I am a bit of a Bachelor and Bachelorette fan, I do admit.
VGK: Who do you think is going to win this season?
Pickard:You know, this is the one season I haven't watched as much. I watched one episode. I liked the girl. I'm not too familiar with the guys to be honest.
VGK: But you are a Bachelorette fan. This is important that we found this out about you. What attracts you to the show? Is it the romance, or do you like to see the guys make fools of themselves?
Pickard:A little bit of everything. You want to see the good moments.
VGK: So do you prefer The Bachelor or The Bachelorette?
Pickard:Well when you watch The Bachelor, there's a lot of girls, so that's nice.
VGK:On that note, let's change the subject.
Pickard:OK.

VGK: Yeah, what a segueway by us! So are you more likely to watch ESPN or TSN?
Pickard:TSN.
VGK:Really?
Pickard:I shouldn't say that. ESPN during the football season. But when I'm in Canada, there's no ESPN. So TSN all the way. When I want to watch hockey highlights, TSN. When I'm looking for some basketball or football, ESPN's the way to go.
VGK:Basketball, huh? What do you think of Lavar and Lonzo Ball?
Pickard: I think he's just really fired up about his kid, getting ready to go into the NBA. I respect that he's so passionate. But he could probably tone it down a bit.
VGK: Since you seem to follow a lot of other sports, too. McGregor-Mayweather is at T-Mobile Arena on August 26. Who you got?
Pickard:I actually had a conversation with a former boxer in my gym about this. I think I want to see McGregor. I just hope Mayweather's not dancing around the ring, just hoping he doesn't get hit. I hope McGregor gets that lucky punch in.
VGK: So you follow boxing and UFC?
Pickard:I like the old heavyweights.
VGK: Well we're only going to ask you the important questions about the old heavyweights. Mike Tyson's face tattoo. Do you approve or do you not approve?
Pickard: I like "his" face tattoo, but not other face tattoos.
VGK: That's probably the right thing to say if you end up meeting him in Las Vegas.
Pickard:I think so, too.
VGK:Sorry if we get you into trouble.
Pickard: It's OK.
VGK:Not to get you in more trouble, but you're a former Seattle Thunderbird and a former Colorado Avalanche. What's a better city to go on vacation to, Seattle or Denver?
Pickard: They're different.
VGK: But both pretty good, right?
Pickard: If I had to pick one, Denver, I love the mountains.
VGK: So Denver it is?
Pickard:Actually, Seattle. I have to go with Seattle. I love the water and it's right on the ocean. I love that.

Pickard3

VGK: A lot of people say Las Vegas for favorite vacation city.
Pickard:That's right.
VGK: This is your home now. How often have you come to Vegas?
Pickard: Two. I haven't really experienced it yet.
VGK: Not sure if it's stuff you can tell us?
Pickard: (laughs)
VGK:What did you do?
Pickard:One time, it was in and out, last year for exhibition with Colorado, playing LA.
VGK:Of course.
Pickard: Yeah, and then, last week, my fiancé and I came in just to check out some places. We were only in for two days, so I haven't experienced it in full yet.
VGK: Pretty hot out here?
Pickard:I grew up in Winnipeg. Winnipeg's known for being so cold, so it's definitely nice.
VGK:Weather's not the only difference between Winnipeg and Las Vegas?
Pickard:The nightlife, too. Nightlife, weather, restaurants. Yeah, those are the main things.

VGK: A lot more movies and TV shows take place in Vegas, too.
Pickard: Yup.
VGK:Any favorite Vegas-based TV show or movie?
Pickard:Oh, I don't even know. Name some for me.
VGK: The Hangover, Ocean's 11….
Pickard: Has to be The Hangover. That's a standard there, great series of movies. What else?
VGK:Ocean's 11, Vegas Vacation, Casino.
Pickard: You know, Ocean's 11 would definitely have to be it.
VGK:Over The Hangover?
Pickard:Yup, I'll take Ocean's 11 over The Hangover.
VGK: That nightlife in Vegas, though. Celine Dion, Britney Spears. If you could get free tickets to see one of them, which one would you pick?
Pickard: Celine Dion.
VGK:A lot of celebrities in Vegas overall. If you were in goal at T-Mobile Arena and could look up and see any celebrity in the crowd, who would you want to see?
Pickard:Uh, Anna Kendrick, for sure.
VGK: Guess we'll see you in Vegas soon, too.
Pickard:Yup, looking forward to coming down and starting soon.
VGK:We're looking forward to having you.
Pickard: Thank you.
