HOW IT WENT DOWN
After the Golden Knights survived an early push from the Oilers, Brett Howden broke the scoreless tie midway through the opening frame with his eighth goal of the season. With Vegas shorthanded late in the frame, Reilly Smith set up William Karlsson for a shorthanded goal as the Golden Knights extended their lead to 2-0 through 20 minutes. Alex Pietrangelo capitalized on a Jonathan Marchessault feed early in the second period to give Vegas a three-goal lead which it carried into the final frame. Reilly Smith added to the lead 14 seconds into the third and Brossoit held off Edmonton's push to secure the 4-0 win.
