For Cody Glass, Monday was just the next step in being recognized as one of the NHL's top prospects.
The 18-year-old, selected by the Golden Knights No. 6 in June's NHL Entry Draft, arrived in Toronto to participate in the NHLPA's Rookie Showcase in Toronto. Which although this is less on-ice competition than the game's elite up-and-coming prospects assembling for promotional purposes, is still worth noting.
This was the first time that many of these teams' top prospects are representing their NHL clubs at a league-wide event.
Which even if most of these players are ticketed to return to junior hockey this season, is a sign of the changing of the guard.
Glass, a high-scoring center, would have a chance to make the Golden Knights in training camp, despite being more likely to return to the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks for one more season. He had 32 goals and 62 assists in 69 games for Portland last season.
Here's a look at some of the highlights of Glass' visit to the NHLPA Rookie Showcase.
