Fleury Passes Neuropsychology Test, Skates On Sunday

With each slide and shuffle through the goal crease on Sunday morning, the fortunes of the Golden Knights seemed to improve.
In the moments following the conclusion of Sunday's morning skate at City National Arena, goalie Marc-Andre Fleury took the ice in full equipment and began taking shots. Out with a concussion since October 13, it was Fleury's second straight day practicing in full equipment.

General manager George McPhee said that a return to game action might not be that far off for Fleury, either.
"With Marc-Andre Fleury, he has passed his formal neuropsychology test," McPhee said. "He is currently in the return to play protocol. He'll be in that this week. If there are no setbacks, he'll be cleared for full contact later in the week."
McPhee added that given the nature of head injuries, the team has been extra cautious with its 33-year-old goalie. That before the Golden Knights would even consider bringing Fleury back to practice, that the team wanted to make sure he was 100 percent healthy.

"We've used our specialists," McPhee said. "We've sent him to other specialists. Everyone's in agreement that he's in a good place right now.
"The fitness level is really high for him. He's trained hard off the ice for several weeks now.
"It's the return to play protocol. And then, if there are no setbacks, he'll hopefully be cleared to return to practice by Wednesday, full contact. Which to us, means his brain is 100 percent cleared."
This doesn't necessarily mean that Fleury would be ready to play in a game this week.
What it means is that he's progressed rather significantly in recent weeks, and if everything goes well, his return could arrive sooner, rather than later.
"It's a start," coach Gerard Gallant said. "Getting on the ice is a big thing. We'll see what happens over the next little while."
