Two days, two coaches.
That's how it's gone for the Golden Knights organization the past 48 hours.
After announcing the hiring of Rocky Thompson as head coach of the AHL's Chicago Wolves on Wednesday morning, the team quickly added Mike Kelly as an assistant coach for Gerard Gallant's Golden Knights staff on Thursday.

As the first assistant coach in Golden Knights history, that is.
As quickly as these two hires have followed one another, Gallant told VegasGoldenKnights.com on Thursday that this activity won't necessarily be slowing down, either.

That with Kelly, one of his former assistant coaches with the Florida Panthers, being added to the fold, that he expects the team to finalize additional coaching hires in the coming days.
"It's going to happen in the very near future," Gallant said. "It's probably going to happen in the next two weeks, for sure. I would say a lot earlier than that. But it definitely should be in the next few weeks that we have our staff together and in place."
Who the team is considering, Gallant wouldn't say.

Except Gallant indicated that he and the rest of the Golden Knights' hockey operations staff is starting to have a clearer picture of what the team is going to be able to do.

"We have a good idea of who the people are going to be," Gallant said. "We have to go through the process to make sure they're available. We're getting real close to getting our staff. It'll be just a little while longer."
Gallant added that he won't assign "roles" - as in what coach focuses on which area of the game - until the full staff is assembled.
"We haven't decided that yet," Gallant said. "We'll have to figure that out when we get our staff in place. We'll sit down altogether, and we'll go over what each guy's role is going to be. And what they're going to do on the bench and all that stuff.
"When we get our staff together, then we'll go over specific roles for each guy."
